September 5, 2010 Sitting in Wytheville, Va at TA truckstop. I have been working on my computer and trying to get it speeded up. I have succeeded at least partially. Ran across two guys who are the extremes of truck drivers. One was another Heartland driver named Tony. He was intelligent, clean, well spoken and we had some good conversations. Another was a guy from New York State, who was everything opposite. He was nice enough, but didn't know when to shut up, and apparently didn't know when to take a bath. He was one of those odd types however, who was extremely well versed on computers. He had a top of the line everything and knew how to use it. He even gave me a few tips and I thanked him. Char went to church today and afterwards went to David and Marsha's house with some other folks for lunch. She had a wonderful time. I wish I could have been there. I am reading Plato's Republic. I apparently had read it one time long ago (at least part of it) because certain sections were underlined. I have been listening to Books on Tape biographies of our Founding Fathers for the last few years. I started with McCullough's "John Adams" and have since read or listened to biographies of Franklin, Washington, and now a really long biography of Alexander Hamilton. Of them all, I think I appreciate Hamilton most of all, although everyone of them had some remarkable
talent(s) that were necessary for the formation and preservation of our great country. I mention them along with the Republic, because with the possible exception of Washington, the Founding Fathers read the Republic, as well as Plutarch's Lives and essays by David Hume.
